The STREAM 5000 has a single-unit capacity of 5024Wh and supports stacking expansion with the EcoFlow STREAM Expansion Battery 5000.
One STREAM 5000 or STREAM AC 5000 can be stacked with up to 2 Expansion Batteries, expanding capacity to a maximum of 15kWh (5kWh, 10kWh or 15kWh). A system supports up to 6 STREAM 5000 and STREAM AC 5000 units, for a maximum system capacity of 90kWh.
There is a battery stacking port at the bottom of the STREAM 5000 and STREAM AC 5000, and the Expansion Battery 5000 has a parallel port at both the top and the bottom, so the units connect in parallel simply by stacking.

What warranty does the STREAM 5000 have?
STREAM 5000 and STREAM AC 5000 come with a 10-year warranty.
How does the STREAM system work?
STREAM is an all-in-one balcony energy storage system made up of solar panels, the STREAM 5000 main unit (including the battery and grid-tied inverter) and the EcoFlow app. Linked with a smart meter, the solar panels convert sunlight into electricity during the day: part of it supplies household loads directly, and part is stored in the battery for backup. At night or on cloudy days, the stored energy is released for household use, and excess electricity can be output to the grid. You can monitor and configure the system remotely in the EcoFlow app, which supports several modes such as self-consumption, Intelligent Mode and custom mode, plus functions such as Peak Shaving and Local Mode, helping you make the most of solar energy and reduce electricity bills.
What's new compared with the previous generation?
Compared with the previous-generation EcoFlow balcony energy storage system, STREAM 5000 brings clear upgrades: 1) Larger capacity: 5024Wh per unit, several times that of the previous generation. It supports parallel expansion with up to 2 Expansion Batteries, taking the main unit to 15kWh, and a system can connect up to six main units for a maximum of 90kWh. 2) Higher grid-connected output: up to 3000W from a single STREAM 5000; a single STREAM AC 5000 delivers 2500W, rising to 3000W when paired with an Expansion Battery. 3) Plenty of off-grid power: the AC Outlet (in a grid-connected situation) has a maximum output of 3600W for high-power appliances. 4) Flexible expansion: supports STREAM Gateway to further expand grid-connected power, with up to 6 units working together. 5) More intelligence: supports smart functions such as Intelligent Mode and Peak Shaving for more worry-free energy management.
How do I connect solar panels to the STREAM?
The photovoltaic input on the STREAM is an MC4 interface. Buy a suitable extension cable for your installation distance (usually 3m to 5m; a single cable should not exceed 30m). To parallel several solar panels for more current, you can optionally add an MC4 branch cable. Note: the current-carrying capacity of the cable must not be lower than the short-circuit current (40A) of the photovoltaic circuit, to ensure safe operation. Connection steps: 1) Insert the solar panel's MC4 male (+) and MC4 female (−) connectors into the extension cable. 2) Connect the other end of the extension cable to the PV INPUT port marked on the back of the STREAM 5000, matching the positive and negative poles. 3) Tighten the MC4 connector until you hear a click, confirming the connection is secure.
Can solar panels be connected in series?
No. The STREAM 5000 does not support series connection of solar panels; it only supports parallel connection. Solar panels connected in parallel to one PV port of the STREAM 5000 must be the same model and specification. In parallel, the current adds up normally and the voltage is limited by the panel with the lowest voltage. Make sure the panels and the way they are combined stay within these limits: 1) Voltage: the panel's open-circuit voltage must be within the STREAM 5000's voltage range. 2) Current: the panel's short-circuit current must be below the STREAM 5000's maximum current. 3) Power: the panel's maximum power cannot exceed 1.2 times the maximum input power of 1250W. 4) The current-carrying capacity of the cable connecting the photovoltaic system must not be lower than the short-circuit current of the panel in that circuit (40A). All four conditions must be met at the same time; if any one is exceeded, the setup cannot be used.
Is the STREAM 5000 compatible with third-party solar panels?
Yes. You only need to check the parameters and combination of the solar panels to confirm that their maximum power is within the STREAM 5000's specifications. Exceeding the range will damage the STREAM 5000 and the setup cannot be used. STREAM's solar input specifications per port: voltage range 20V to 60V, short-circuit current 40A and maximum input power 1250W. The panel combination must meet all of these conditions: 1) Voltage: the panel's open-circuit voltage must be within the STREAM 5000's voltage range. 2) Current: the panel's short-circuit current must be lower than the STREAM 5000's short-circuit current. 3) Power: the panel's maximum power cannot exceed 1.2 times the maximum input power of 1250W. 4) The current-carrying capacity of the PV cable must not be lower than the short-circuit current of the panel in that circuit. All four conditions must be met at the same time; if any one is exceeded, the setup cannot be used. Series connection of panels is prohibited; only parallel connection is supported. In parallel, the current adds up normally and the voltage is limited by the smallest panel, and panels connected in parallel to one PV port must be the same model and specification.
What is the maximum output in grid-tied and off-grid use?
The STREAM 5000 has two usage scenarios, grid-tied and off-grid, and two output ports: the grid-tied port and the AC Outlet. Grid-tied (connected to the home grid): when a single unit is connected to PV, the grid-tied port delivers up to 3000W. With plug-and-play installation, the device automatically limits the system's grid-tied output to the upper limit set by regulations in your area. In grid-tied operation, the AC Outlet of a single unit supports loads up to 3600W (bypass). Off-grid (not connected to the home grid): used as an emergency power supply, the AC Outlet of a single unit delivers up to 2500W; expanding capacity with a battery pack raises the maximum AC Outlet output to 3000W.
Does adding an Expansion Battery increase off-grid power?
In off-grid situations, adding one Expansion Battery increases the main unit's off-grid power from 2500W to 3000W. Adding more Expansion Batteries does not increase power further, but expands capacity.
What is the maximum grid-connected output of a system?
When the STREAM 5000 is connected to PV or stacked in parallel with a battery pack, its maximum grid-connected output is 3000W; the STREAM AC 5000 stacked in parallel with a battery pack also reaches 3000W. A system can have up to 6 STREAM AC 5000/STREAM 5000 main units, for a maximum system output of 18kW. The device starts in plug-and-play mode by default, which limits the maximum output of the devices in your system to the regulatory upper limit in your area.
Can I install the STREAM 5000 myself?
If your region supports plug and play, you can install and maintain the STREAM 5000 main unit yourself. In regions that do not support plug and play, such as the UK, the STREAM 5000 must be installed into the distribution box in accordance with local regulations, and this must be done by a professional installer or electrician. The device's initial default output is the upper limit set by the plug-and-play regulations of the region you selected, for example 800W in Germany. To use grid-tied output above the limit of Germany's simplified plug-in PV rules, a registered electrician must first complete an on-site assessment, and the necessary confirmation, registration or licensing must be completed in line with applicable German electrical installation specifications, grid connection, metering and grid operator requirements. EcoFlow can only evaluate whether to provide the corresponding functional support after receiving the necessary certificates and confirming that the product configuration suits the usage scenario.
What happens during a power outage?
When there is a power outage, the STREAM 5000 immediately switches to off-grid mode: the grid-connected port stops outputting and the device powers the loads connected to its AC Outlet. Prerequisites: 1) there must be sufficient remaining charge in the battery; 2) the load must be connected to the AC Outlet of the STREAM 5000. Notes: the grid-connected port disconnects immediately when it detects a grid outage and cannot be used for off-grid power; do not connect the AC Outlet of the STREAM 5000 to the power grid; the actual available runtime depends on the load power, remaining battery charge and photovoltaic power. If you live in an area with frequent power outages, keep the battery fully charged so it can switch seamlessly to backup power during an outage.
What is Intelligent Mode?
Intelligent Mode combines weather forecasts, your electricity consumption habits, equipment status, and dynamic or time-of-use electricity prices, and automatically achieves the lowest electricity cost by discharging when prices are high and charging when they are low. Its main advantages: users on dynamic electricity prices can automatically achieve the lowest electricity cost without changing their consumption habits; for users on time-of-use prices, compared with time-based custom tasks, Intelligent Mode automatically creates charging and discharging tasks based on weather forecasts and the expected PV generation.
What is Peak Shaving?
During peak usage hours, when your household draws more power from the grid than the set power limit, the system automatically discharges the battery to make up the difference, based on the set peak-shaving SOC, reducing the peak power drawn from the grid. It works alongside operating modes such as self-consumption and AI mode, with no need to switch modes separately.
What are the benefits of Peak Shaving?
Cost saving: in areas billed on peak power or capacity, reducing monthly or annual peaks may lower capacity fees and contracted-power costs. More peace of mind: during peak simultaneous use (for example EV charging, heat pumps and ovens running together), it reduces the load on the main circuit and lowers the risk of tripping from excessively high peaks. More flexibility: you can expand home electrification without upgrading your grid contract or modifying your home's electrical distribution. More convenience: once the power limit and time period are set, it runs automatically without frequent manual intervention.
What is Local Mode?
Local Mode is an optional connection method that requires a smart meter. When it is enabled, the app and the device communicate only over your home local area network, the system runs for self-use, and it can access ecosystem accessories and meters that support local access. Data is not uploaded to the cloud and stays completely local, better protecting your privacy and data security.
How do I connect the STREAM 5000 to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi?
Before connecting STREAM 5000 or STREAM AC 5000 to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, make sure your phone is connected to the internet (Wi-Fi or mobile data). Steps: 1) Turn on your phone's Bluetooth. 2) Download and install the latest EcoFlow app from the App Store (iOS) or your Android app store. 3) Register and log in to your EcoFlow account. 4) Follow the device manual to enter network configuration mode and add the device in the app as prompted. 5) Once the device is online, you can check its status and set parameters remotely in the app. Note: when configuring the network for the first time, make sure your phone and the STREAM 5000 are on the same Wi-Fi network (2.4GHz band; some routers need separate 2.4G and 5G networks).
Does it support Home Assistant?
Home Assistant is not supported yet, but there are plans to integrate it.
Does the STREAM 5000 work with PowerStream?
The STREAM 5000 does not support working with PowerStream in the same system. STREAM 5000 and PowerStream are product series with different positioning, using different energy management logic and communication protocols, and currently they cannot be added to the same system in the EcoFlow app for unified management. However, PowerStream can be used as a third-party inverter, connected directly to the AC OUTLET or the home circuit: it prioritises supplying loads, with any excess going to the battery and then fed back to the grid.
Can I connect a third-party inverter?
Yes. Third-party inverters can be connected directly to the AC OUTLET of the STREAM 5000 or STREAM AC 5000 (when connected to the AC Outlet, the third-party inverter's output power must not exceed 3680W), or directly to the home circuit. Energy is distributed in this order: first, supply home loads; second, charge the battery; third, feed excess energy into the grid. Note: in off-grid situations with the third-party inverter connected directly to the AC OUTLET, the inverter's input is stopped if its output exceeds 3000W.

- Annual savings: Figures are based on internal modelling. Estimated annual generation = PV rated power × PV generation ratio; self-consumed energy = estimated generation × self-consumption ratio; annual savings = self-consumed energy × £0.30/kWh. Actual results vary with household consumption, total storage capacity, maximum output power and PV system size. Example: a household consuming 7,000 kWh/year with 2 main units + 2 batteries (20 kWh total), 6,000 W output and 8,000 W PV: 8,000 W × 0.93 = 7,440 kWh estimated annual generation; 7,440 kWh × 0.78 = 5,803 kWh self-consumed energy; 5,803 kWh × £0.30 = £1,740 estimated annual savings. PV generation and self-consumption ratios vary by region, system size and usage pattern. Actual electricity bill savings and the solar payback period vary with individual household consumption patterns, geographic location and specific energy provider terms. EcoFlow does not guarantee specific financial returns. This applies to all annual savings references on this page.
- Local Mode: In Local Mode, the following features are unavailable: AI functions, dynamic tariff integration, solar forecasting, data statistics, device sharing, data reset and OTA firmware updates. Third-party devices without a local connection cannot be integrated into the system, and only locally connected ecosystem devices support local automation.

Highest energy density among 5kWh solutions." is based on a comparison of installation footprint (floor area) with selected home battery systems of similar capacity available on the European market. Actual space requirements may vary with installation conditions.
- Handling: When moving the equipment by hand, wear protective gloves to prevent injury. The equipment is heavy, so handle it with care. If two or more people are needed, make sure they communicate and coordinate clearly to prevent injury.
- Higher output power: For higher output power, connection to the distribution board must be performed by a certified electrician or qualified professional.
- Cycle life and warranty: Cycle life is based on testing at 25±2°C, a 0.25P charge/discharge rate and 90% depth of discharge, with ≥60% capacity retention at end of life. Actual performance may vary with usage conditions. The 10-year warranty is subject to terms and conditions, including applicable use cases and exclusions.
- Upcoming features: Based on market research available at the time of publication. Expected to launch in September 2026.
- Water immersion: The battery can operate in water immersion up to 10 cm deep. This is intended for temporary exposure only: continuous immersion should not exceed 30 minutes. Prolonged submersion beyond this limit may affect performance and is not recommended.
