I honestly didn’t expect such a big difference. It feels much steadier than my old winder, and not having to clamp it to the table is such a nice upgrade. It handles thicker yarn beautifully, and I can wind larger cakes without constantly stopping.

Questions and answers
Important: Can Caydo power adapters be used interchangeably?
No. Caydo power adapters are not interchangeable. Always use the adapter specified for this product. Using the wrong adapter may cause permanent damage to the machine.
What yarn types can I use with the A1 Pro Max?
The A1 Pro Max is designed for a wide range of yarn weights, fibers, and textures, supporting yarn up to 9 mm in diameter. For different yarns, you can adjust the tension to help maintain a smoother, more controlled feed.
Will it make smooth, even yarn cakes with different yarns?
The yarn guide, stabilizing arm, press roller, and adjustable tension work together to help reduce slipping, loose winding, tangling, and uneven buildup for neater, more consistent yarn cakes.
How much yarn can I wind at once?
The A1 Pro Max can wind yarn cakes up to 16 oz, depending on the yarn type and thickness. The larger capacity means fewer splits and interruptions when preparing yarn for bigger projects.
Do I need to clamp it to the table?
For normal winding on a flat, stable surface, the A1 Pro Max can sit directly on the tabletop. A clamp is included when extra stability is needed, especially on uneven surfaces or when working with a yarn swift.
How do I adjust the tension for different yarns?
Use the tension adjuster to fine-tune the yarn feed. Loosen the tension if bulky yarn feels too tight or difficult to wind, and tighten it if finer yarn is feeding too loosely.
What should I do if the yarn gets tangled or the machine stops?
If the yarn becomes knotted or tangled, turn the machine off, straighten the yarn, and restart once it can feed freely again. The machine may also pause when it encounters excessive resistance.
Why does the winding speed sometimes slow down?
Some slowdown is normal. Bulky yarn creates more friction, and the growing yarn cake adds weight as it winds. Different yarn types and thicknesses may therefore wind at slightly different speeds.

Large capacity fast electric yarn winder
I can’t tell you enough how fantastic this product is. This electric yarn winder machine can make yarn cakes up to 16 ounces, which is the largest I’ve ever seen or come across with. It works with any yarn diameter, size equal or less than 9 mm. The device is very stable and has a great grip on its silicon-lined bottom. The assembly is very simple. You can connect it to the table for extra stability with the included detachable clamp. However, you can keep it standing on its own. Which is my personal preference. Its nonslip ultra-grip silicon base will keep the machine in one place. I like the stabilizing arm that eliminates flying yarns. There’s also a tension adjuster that keeps the cake tight. It has a powerful motor that is durable and will last me for a very long time. I used my large chenille yarn that was flimsy, and I needed it to be winded into a perfect cake so I can easily knit with it later. I’m including photos of before and after winding this yarn. I’m so impressed with the quality, performance, and the speed of this machine. There are so many speed levels, and they are adjustable by moving the power/speed knob on the machine. I also like the unique spindle that releases quickly just with one press. Overall, this machine has a great thought-through design, and it’s a huge upgrade from the previous machines that I owned. I highly recommend it to anyone who works with and loves yarn.

Not sure I can actually give this one away
This was meant to be a gift for a new and enthusiastic crocheter. I say "meant to be" because I am torn about whether it's going to make it out the door or end up staying with me. I already have a manual, hand crank yarn winder, and this is a significant upgrade to it, so take my enthusiasm with that grain of salt. Now, full honesty on the testing: I took it out, verified all the parts were there, and everything appears to be in perfect working order, but I did not actually wind any yarn with it. That was on purpose. I was pretty sure that once I started using it, it would quietly stop being a gift (gifting fail!), so I've left it alone unless I turn up something to give in its place. What I can tell you from handling it: it's plastic, but thick, sturdy plastic that feels well made rather than flimsy. It's also clearly bigger than my hand unit, big enough that I can tell just by looking it will make larger cakes than a standard winder. Aside from the motor, the way the yarn feeds and winds is very similar to the winder I already own, so I have little doubt it does the job. The only two things I don't love about my current winder are the hand cranking and the smaller cakes. This one covers both, which is precisely my problem. For a crocheter ready to move up from a manual winder, or someone starting out who'd rather skip the hand crank stage entirely, this looks like a lot of winder. Time will tell whether I actually manage to give it away.

I'd give it 6 stars if possible.

Much improved over other versions.
I have bought a couple of different electric yarn winders (a couple of them even from Caydo) and returned them all. The sizes weren’t the best, they had to be clamped down and if you tried to turn them up too high they were very loud and jittery. I had pretty much decided I was just going to have to continue to cake my yarn with a hand cranked yarn winder. I admit I wasn’t expecting too much from this but I decided I would give it a try anyway. Happily this larger version has far fewer of these problems. If your surface is level the silicone footing will hold it in place without the clamp (though it is recommended that you use the clamp if you’re using the winder in conjunction with a yarn swift). If you do need the clamp it is plenty long so you can use it on a fairly thick surface. The clamp also has a better tightening knob than the simple wing nut you usually find on these things. The cone comes in two pieces that lock together and when you finish winding your yarn you simply remove the top of the cone and take your cake off. There is a nice sized hole so you can tuck the yarn wrapper into the hole so you don’t lose it. You can also use the hole in the center to slide your yarn on to a magnetic post and base stand or one of the base and posts that you can hang on your wrist and knit or crochet from there. The machine is still a little loud and it can shake a lightweight table (I have to use a mini banquet table), but it’s still an improvement over the others I have tried. I was able to use it for size 1 sock yarn, size 4 cotton yarn and size 4 acrylic yarn in a value size. The listing says it will take 16oz of yarn but I don’t have any skeins that large in my collection at the moment. It did an excellent job on all the yarns and the cakes came out neat and even. I am not sure I would want to try a one pound skein but the listing says it will take it. The only thing I recommend is to make sure you run the yarn UNDER the yarn stabilization arm or your cake will come out wonky. I did find it a little difficult to tell the tension differences between the tightest and the loosest but I expect that will come with more use. Finally, assembly is quite straightforward and the directions that come with the machine are very good; it even comes with a small screwdriver for the one place you need to attach two of the parts together.

So easy to use.
I skein all yarn that I purchase, even yarn that comes in skeins - for a couple of reasons: 1) I am checking to see if there are joins/knots in the yarn, and 2) I am making a center pull that actually works for me. I have an electric winder and it is extremely noisy. It also constantly bounced around the counter where I wind the yarn, the suction cup on the bottom no longer sticks well. There are other problems with it. So, although it technically still works, I started looking for an upgraded replacement. I found it with this Caydo KnitWit electric yarn winder. This is a lovely little machine. First it is quiet enough that I could carry on a conversation easily while winding yarn on it. Awesome! Second it secures to the counter with a screw on clamp. The winder stays put. The tension/feeder is great and works very well. It is adjustable for the yarn's thickness, again awesome. The on/off dial is easy to use. The speed is easy to control on the dial. I am so happy with this. I had a 1/2 completed sweater that was just too large and needed to be tinked. I wanted to wind the yarn directly from the fabric. It worked so well. I didn't look at the instructions at first; the machine is so intuitive. I figured I should read them and did while the yarn was winding. They were clear and easy to read, but the machine is so easy to set up just a brief glance would be all that is needed. A very nice tool for the serious fiber artist.

Worth every penny for serious yarn crafters
I'll be honest, this is one of those purchases I normally would've talked myself out of. The price is significantly higher than basic yarn winders, and I assumed a cheaper model would do the same thing. After using this, I can confidently say it doesn't. The yarn cakes this machine produces are incredible. I compared a cake wound on my previous automatic winder to one from the Caydo A1 Pro Max, and the difference is shocking. The cakes are much tighter, more uniform, and noticeably smaller while holding the same amount of yarn. The efficiency alone impressed me. Assembly was straightforward, and it's extremely easy to use. The tension clamps are simple and effective, and one of my favorite improvements is that I no longer need a threader to get yarn through a tiny guide hole. That makes dealing with knots, joins, and yarn changes so much easier. The tension adjustment is also smooth and easy to fine-tune for different yarn weights and fiber types. The machine feels sturdy and well-built. It comes with an integrated clamp, but honestly, it's heavy enough that I wouldn't even need it on a solid work surface. The power cord is a nice length, and overall the entire setup feels thoughtfully designed for actual yarn enthusiasts. I own a less expensive electric winder, and it doesn't perform anywhere near as well as this one. This isn't just a small upgrade, it's a completely different experience. For anyone who winds a lot of yarn, this thing is going to be revolutionary. I genuinely can't wait to cake the rest of my stash.
